This week on the podcast: A Stitch on Time, with Stephen West
We don’t know about you, but here at This Makes Me Happy we definitely enjoy those free-flowing days without deadlines. You know, the type where you can sit down, relax and actually enjoy a great cup of coffee. For some people, including this week’s guest, that’s not a luxury. It’s a perception of time that’s become an awesome lifestyle.
Stephen West is a knit designer from Tulsa who currently lives in Amsterdam. An eccentric—yet often quiet—personality, Stephen tells us about being confused for a supermodel at his favorite Thai restaurant, his love for traveling to Rejkjavik, Iceland and why a free-flowing sense of time makes him happy.
We hope Stephen inspires you to live life in color. Don’t forget to listen in by going to our website or subscribing to our podcast on iTunes!

Things That Made Us Happy Last Week
JASON: This week I was very happy to receive so many happy birthday wishes. I had three celebrations (balloons, cakes, a card, and a paper crown from my coworkers; dinner out with Bernardo; and a fantastic day with lunch, playing with the kids at Franklin Square, and cake with my family) and received birthday messages from all over the world—including South Africa, Germany, Israel, and New Jersey.

ROCIO: This week I had the most delightful Lavender Summer Soda. If you know me, you will have heard at some point about my unexplainable love for everything that tastes like a flower. Partner that with a Sunday afternoon spent with one of my closest friends? Just amazing!

BERNARDO Last week was Jason's birthday. Originally I was planning on making a home-cooked meal to celebrate, but our friend Emilie Kress (you heard her on episode 2) had a reservation for Zahav that she couldn't make and she offered it to us. We've tried making reservations in the past, but they are usually booked weeks in advance, so we were happy to get the reservation to celebrate this occasion. We had a wonderful dinner and since Emilie told them it was Jason's birthday, they put a candle on the dessert. Celebrating another year of Jason made me very happy!
ORLY: Many things made me happy this week! I ate lunch with my brother at my favorite food truck restaurant and talked about bullet journals (which for an organization freak is amazing). I also spent time with friends watching our favorite TV show and drinking rosé, finalized the details of my trip to Israel, and risked it and texted a guy first! Talk about being bold huh?

Happy Shoutouts
Rocío would like to give a happy shout out to all the amazing people who provided her with delicious vegetarian food this past week, especially Jason and Bernardo. Waffles for the win!
Shoutout to Zach Martin. Zach is JT Waldman's partner (as in JT from episode 11); JT has mentioned a few times that he has never had a surprise party, so Zach organized a surprise 39 3/4 birthday party—that is three months before JT's birthday. for extra surprise effect!

Rose Disanto has been leading the AIGA Philadelphia Mentorship Program for the past few years. Rose has been doing such a great job that she will be talking about the program at the upcoming AIGA National Retreat. Congrats Rose!
