In This Week’s Episode: Always Happy, with Jocelyn Park

Joce, what makes you happy?

This might sound cliché coming from us, but there are truly a lot of things to be happy about. Finding what those things are can sometimes mean shifting focus, even when times are tough, and enjoying that which is simple versus concentrating on big issues. Maybe it’s realizing how much you are loving your freshly made cup of coffee or how your favorite song brings out your greatest dance moves. Whatever it is, and however you do it, this week’s guest is a prime example that happiness is often a choice to be found in the simple things.

Jocelyn Park is a writer, traveler, artist, designer and community builder. She is a dreamer and achiever all wrapped into one. Professionally, Jocelyn is a designer, project manager and founder of Lancaster Transplant. She loves farm animals, awesome coffee mugs, swimming holes and surprises. Join us this week as she talks to us about welcoming new folks to her town of Lancaster, the importance of finding balance, and the very many amazing things that make her happy.

We hope you enjoy hearing about Jocelyn and her gusto for life! For hers and other episodes, please follow on iTunes.

In This Week’s Episode: Making Matters, with Debbie Millman

Debbie, what makes you happy?

The greatest figures of all time are often known for things they’ve created. From Michelangelo to Shakespeare, Thomas Edison to Alexander Graham Bell, all of these people left a legacy that probably started with the curiosity and need to create. For most of us, even if we feel this urge, our adult lives don’t always make it easy. Sometimes you have to do your best to make the time to produce something creative. And if the urge is strong enough? You eventually find the way to create, no matter how long it may take you.

This week’s guest on This Makes Me Happy is Debbie Millman, writer, educator, artist, brand consultant and host of the radio show Design Matters. Debbie tells us about teaching, her philosophy on having time versus making time, and why creative making makes her happy.

We hope Debbie inspires you to take the time to be creative.

Annete's by the beach in New Jersey

Last week Jason and I kicked off the Lazy Hazy Days of Summer. We spent the weekend at his parents’ house in Ventnor, New Jersey, and we made the mandatory stop at Annette’s for Sunday breakfast. This is just a small sampling of the colorful decor in the restaurant; I guess we’ll have to go back to make more #happycolorpalette posts soon

In This Week’s Episode: Connecting and Healing with Vicki Zaharopoulos

Vicki, what makes you happy?

In the lovely words of Doris Day…and many other Italian natives…: que sera, sera (whatever will be, will be). Life unfolds before us and we often have no way to predict who we will meet and what we will experience. Ironically, the best things usually come to us at the most unexpected times. Sometimes they will change the way we live our lives completely.

This week’s guest on This Makes Me Happy is Vicki Zaharopoulos, a massage therapist, massage practitioner and Reiki practitioner in Philadelphia. While she’s always had her mother and her mother’s cooking to make her happy, Vicki shares the incredible bond she has with her wife, Stephanie, and her dog, Zoe. These two relationships came into her life unexpectedly and changed her journey forever. Most importantly, they make her happy.

We hope Vicki’s story inspires you to let go and let life happen. Catch her interview and others at thehappypodcast.com!
